HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

To My Mother

Because I feel that in the heavens above
The angels, whispering one to another,
Can find among their burning terms of love,
None so devotional as that of "Mother,"
Therefore by that dear name I have long called you,
You who are more than mother unto me,
And filled my heart of hearts, where death installed you,
In setting my Virginia's spirit free.

My mother -- my own mother, who died early,

Was but the mother of myself; but you
Are the mother to the one I loved so dearly,
And thus are dearer than the mother I knew
But that infinity with which my wife
Was dearer to my soul that its soul-life.

Roses for You!

People say, the queen of all flowers are the roses. I love roses, they are wonderful, majestic, they smell good - but much more I do love the orchids. I will bring more out of my orchid collection in another post.

People say, the queen of all flowers is the rose! And this beauty queen I have captured in the rose garden of the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida.
