Remember the warmer days in Florida

The picture shows pelicans flying over the waves at Cocoa Beach.

Hi my friends,

The best thing on the cold days we have just now in Florida is: the sun is back again!
It's still not warm enough as it should be, but it's getting better. There are still some cold days ahead.

I worry much more for our animals and plants. I heard stories about the manatees, sea turtles and iguanas who are suffering and dieing from these freezing cold temperatures. People are helping to rescue them all over Florida and they even open up again old electric plants, so the animals can come to warm up in the warm waters there. Sea turtles get washed to the shores, they cannot swim anymore in this cold temperatures. People help to collect them, bring them to shelters where they get good care and warm water to warm up again.

Thank you all for your kind comments yesterday, very much appreciated.

Two days at the beach

Coming from Corpus Christi, you'll be entering the Islands, first Padre Island and then take a left to Mustang Island - that's what we did

This is our little RV enjoying beach life

We were not the only one parked out here, everywhere were also big buses to see. On Mustang Island and at Port Aransas is actually allowed to park RV's directly on the beach, even over night, if you have a permit from the city

The sound of the rolling waves were very loud - but it was beautiful to listen to the melody of the waves!

There is also all kind of life going on on a beach: kids are playing and looking for shells

Seagulls are flying close by - La Paloma blanca

Why do Pelicans fly in groups?

A close up shot to five of the "group members"

In Port Aransas you can watch the big oil tankers going out to the deep sea

Or the deep sea fishing boats coming back home to the harbor

Port Aransas is getting ready for next week starting spring breakers - thousands of students will probably overflow the island and this pretty little town and at the beach

Beautiful beaches, vibrant views, relaxing retreats. Enjoy shimmering sunrises over the Texas Gulf Coast and serene evenings on the bay. Port Aransas is the premier vacation destination for beach, sun and family fun! Wiggle your toes in the sand! Reel in a redfish, captain a kayak, search for seashells, birdwatch, shop coastal stores and dine in island style restaurants. Our tranquil, tropical community boasts miles of natural beaches, gentle gulf breezes and just-right weather making our island a perfect, peaceful get away. Get close to the water and away from the crowds. Stay for a weekend or a week in choice accommodations -from quaint cottages to beachfront condos and RV parks to camp grounds. Visit Port Aransas on Mustang Island and enjoy the unspoiled beauty of Texas~Island Style!

A day in Spring at Folly Beach

Beautiful colors of the water and the sky and some people were already enjoying the sunshine. This is the place to be on a day like this!

A place, where flying kites are not only for little boys...

A place where airplanes meet the clouds...

...and fourteen pelicans are flying over your head...

and you will find some still living shells in the water

and of course, where hubby has to take a closer look to it too - don't worry, we released it back to the sea.

The place also, where palm trees are giving a very tropical look to the scene - I felt almost like back in Key West :-)

...where the palm leafs have very strong colors...

..where black birds are singing in the limbs...

...and on the other side is his neighbor singing too, a brown bird. Can anyone tell me the real names for these little cute birdies?

Do this plant will have some flowers too? I'm pretty sure they'll do, later in the summer - because just now it's "only" springtime.

It's so much fun to spend some time at the beach - and it's big fun to live in Charleston!
